About Rice and Rock Concerts

Rice and Rock Concerts is a blog created and maintained by Jamie McDonald Photography. Originally a basic blog to update readers with new photo galleries it quickly became a travel and photography blog. The inspiration for the name came from my travels in 2009. I was in China and I could no longer access my wordpress.com blog, so I needed to start a self-hosted blog to get around the authorites. Rice had become an everyday staple and it seemed appropriate that it be one part of the title. 2009 was a year of quite directionless travel, but one thing that was certain is that I was going to the Sziget music festival in Budapest in Hungary; hence Rock Concerts.

At the beginning of my journey I was an Australian based photojournalist, and by the end I had become a Londoner, working as an editor for Getty Images. Amazing what travel can do to you hey?

Whilst my big journey is over I still look back fondly on the memories of travelling for six months and I hope it provides some inspiration for you, the reader. I am going to make the most of my location and continue to travel, albeit short breaks rather than the big trip. Who knows though; I still plan to make it back to Australia one of these days so perhaps an overland journey home?

My photographs are updated on my website Jamie McDonald Photography. Follow the updates as Jamie discovers Europe!

    Hi Jamie,
    Beautiful pictures.

I’d love for you to post on Pink Pangea (http://pinkpangea.com), a travel site specifically geared towards women travelers. Submit a photo of yourself in a country you’ve visited and write a post like this one about your experiences, providing some tips for other women travelers to that country.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
    Rachel
